Tel Aviv Field Trip

(please scroll down for the full update. i am trying to organize things i put up by different posts so make sure you scroll down if i'm behind :) and no, i have not put the Jordan field trip up yet.)
On Friday, the day after we got back from Jordan we had a full day field trip to Tel Aviv! We first went on a tour of the Jewish Diaspora Museum. It was really interesting and we walked through and learned more of the history of the Jewish people. It was actually nice to walk through because much of it was a repeat of what we've already learned about in class. Here, like I've said before, they have awkward hand paintings and things in the Middle East and here is yet another example from the museum. Who has fingers like that?
They also had a copy of the Ecclesia and Synagoga statue from medieval times depicting Christianity and Judaism. The Jewish woman is on the right and if you look hard enough you can find all of the symbolism. This was created to show the superiority of the Christian religion.
We also went to Independence Hall where Israel's Declaration of Independence was signed on May 14, 1948 by David Ben Gurion in front of a Jewish council and leaders. After it was signed a blessing was said by a rabbi. It was interesting to be there and see how it was originally set up and they even had the original microphone. After the lady was done talking she played the actual tape of David Ben Gurion speaking and the rabbi's blessing.
It was warm too and we had some free time, so of course we went down to the beach. It would have been ten times better if I hadn't been wearing jeans since it was so hot that day! It was still fun though to get our feet wet. We got some nice rays too! Then we walked around a flea market close by too. Definitely going back to hang out for a free day!
We went down to the sea port too where Jonah attempted to escape from his calling by God to preach in Nineveh. Poor Jonah, you can't escape once you've been called :)
